Installing the MODI OCR module by installing SharePoint
Designer 2007
Microsoft Office Document Imaging (MODI)
is removed in Microsoft Office 2010. This article provides methods you can follow to
install MODI on your computer from the SharePoint 2007 installation.
SharePoint Designer 2007 is provided as a free download from the Microsoft
Download Center. To download SharePoint Designer 2007 and only include MODI
during the installation, follow these steps:
-
Download and run the "SharePointDesigner.exe" file from this location:
Download SharePoint Designer 2007
SharePointDesigner.exe size: 300 MB
- Review, and then accept the software license.
-
Click Customize to open the installation options.
-
On the Installation Options tab, click the down arrow and select Not Available for these three sections:
- Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer
- Office Shared Features
- Office Tools
- Expand Office Tools.
-
Click the down arrow for the Microsoft Office Document Imaging option, and then select Run all from my computer.
- Click Install Now, and then click Close.
Warning:
- DO NOT INSTALL the full SharePoint 2007 set of files. Sharepoint 2007 is not compatible with Office 2010. The only custom
component you want to install is the Microsoft Office Document Imaging (MODI) component.
- You must expand the 'Run from my Computer' selection right down to the component piece: Scanning, OCR and Indexing Service
Filter. If you enable just the "Document Imaging" menu item, the installation will not work.
To check that Microsoft Document Imaging has been properly installed, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then select All Programs.
- Click Microsoft Office, and then select Microsoft Office Tools.
- Click Microsoft Office Document Imaging.
